“Choice’s – The Gift Shop” opened in the funky part of Sacramento, California known as Midtown in August 1992. Conceived by Denise’s lifelong passion for women’s reproductive health care rights and heightened during the pathetic political period of America’s backward notion that abortion rights should be restricted or outlawed, the shop, all of 400 square feet carried political buttons, t-shirts and bumper stickers.

After the first year and being graced by tons of free publicity we moved the shop around the corner to 1000 square feet. “The Toast To Choice” shown below printed on the back of the shop’s business card inspired many and created a foundation for a clientele committed to social justice, peace and freedom and keeping “Choice’s – The Gift Shop” in business.

We always said, “The community is welcome, the public stay out”. As such, wonderful people doing important work, often times remaining without public acknowledgement, support or accolades returned to the shop for their gift giving and soul satisfaction. To those we express our joyful gratitude and appreciation. The spirit of “Choice’s” has endured because of you. Thank you for your support and the values you inspire in our community!

Today the shop is abundant with jewelry, art glass, bath potions to clothing and everything in between. With still the social political theme that we are pro-choice, environment, peace, gay-lesbian civil rights, children, education, art and fun the shop is filled with the sense of respect, kindness, compassion, wonder and joy that are the true groundwork and reason for our moral and family values.

The goal of this website is to share our wonderful gifts, many of which are handmade by gifted artists from America and around the world.
